2024 Highlights

We put people first

When we say we put people first, it’s not only our members but also our providers, business partners, communities and employees. As a not-for-profit, we can prioritize our customers instead of shareholders. In 2024, we:

  • Achieved the best customer experience scores in the industry.
  • Earned SQM’s 'Call Center of the Year.'
  • Elevated customer experience by redesigning BlueAccess, our member access portal.

We pursue affordability relentlessly

To have an affordable product, we need to ensure our members get the best value for their dollar. We are constantly looking for ways to cut costs without sacrificing customer experience. In 2024, we:

  • Promoted well-being with Blue365®, offering member discounts and exclusive offers.
  • Introduced a $0 premium Prescription Drug Plan for Medicare members beginning in 2025.
  • Implemented Medicare Prescription Payment Plan
  • Expanded access — SmartShopper is now available for fully insured groups and individuals, helping deliver savings through cost-effective care.

We prepare for tomorrow

We were the first health plan in the State of Kansas. We are using our strong heritage to build a brighter future by showing up for Kansans in every stage of their life. In 2024:

  • Healthy Blue was awarded the KanCare contract and will have the opportunity to serve the Medicaid population beginning in 2025. Healthy Blue Kansas is an alliance formed by BCBSKS and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City, in conjunction with Anthem Partnership Holding, now known as Elevance Health.
  • A record number of Kansans enrolled in our Medicare coverage.

We invest in healthy communities

  • Awarded 107 new Healthy Habits for Life Grants.
